Lionel Messi scored two goals of the highest quality in La Liga this weekend to take his tally to 15 for the season. Both of the Argentine’s goals were scored from outside the box in superb fashion, as he helped Barcelona on their way to a 5-1 win against Alaves.Messi may now make our leaderboard, but he is still some way off reaching the runaway leader, Robert Lewandowski. The Bayern striker scored again on Monday in the German side’s rearranged Bundesliga match versus Arminia Bielefeld which was moved due to their Club World Cup exploits over the weekend.Lewandowski now has 25 goals and 50 points. His nearest rival for the Golden Shoe is fellow Bundesliga striker Andre Silva, who has now scored 18 for the season.Liverpool may have lost against Leicester, but Mohamed Salah still scored a lovely goal to take his tally to 17.Georgios Giakoumakis of Venlo has scored an impressive 22 goals and is the highest player on our list who doesn’t feature within one of Europe’s top five leagues.A talented group on 16 goals for the campaign includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Romelu Lukaku, and Luis Suarez.2020/21 EUROPEAN GOLDEN SHOE STANDINGS 2020/21 European Golden ShoeA reminder: The five elite leagues – Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1 – all carry a weighting of 2, meaning that a player will be awarded two points for every goal they score in these competitions. Ricciardo makes bold prediction for new team

Transfer Tracker: Michigan QB Dylan McCaffrey เข้าสู่พอร์ทัล

An Australian hasn’t lifted the Formula 1 world championship trophy in 40 years, but Daniel Ricciardo has declared he’s on the cusp of breaking the drought in his new colours. The Western Australian’s new racing team, McLaren, last night showed off their new car for the 2021 season, in which Ricciardo will make his McLaren debut at the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 29.An Australian hasn’t tasted Formula 1 world championship glory since Alan Jones in 1980, and while Ricciardo says he’s likely not ready to take the crown this year, the 31-year-old believes his time will come in his three-year stint with McLaren.”I truly believe I can (win the world championship) and I believe I can in this next chapter with McLaren,” Ricciardo told Nine News.”This year is certainly a stretch, and that’s not to be pessimistic, but there’s probably not enough rule changes happening to swing it massively. I believe in my ability to nudge the car a little bit further up, but I think probably once the new rules come in 2022 we’ll get a pretty good picture.”I think everything McLaren is doing as a team – for me it looks like they are on the right path to give me that.”One of Ricciardo’s strongest weapons in his first season with McLaren could be the team’s new Mercedes engine.McLaren’s use of a Honda engine proved fruitless and their switch to a Renault motor was marred by reliability issues, but McLaren principal Andreas Seidl believes German manufacturer Mercedes could launch his team into an era of dominance.”We wanted to get a championship-winning power unit in the back of our car,” Seidl told Motorsport Magazine.Ricciardo doubts he will win his maiden Formula 1 world championship title this year because the former Renault driver sees the 2021 season as an experimental phase. Not only is he set to operate with a new motor, he will also have to adjust to McLaren’s new aerodynamics.”I obviously like to think (I’ll have a sneaky chance next year). Probably by the middle of this year we’ll have an understanding of how the development for next year is tracking, so I could probably answer it better then,” Ricciardo said.”But even so, it’s probably all speculation until the cars get on track.”We might look really good on paper … but you never know what the other teams are doing. But I think the right people are in place to make this a very successful team.”Ricciardo hasn’t won a world championship race since conquering the field at Monaco in 2018, a race in which he edged Formula 1 greats Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton.Last year he had two podium finishes and was ranked fifth overall.Ricciardo said podium finishes would be his aim in 2021.Daniel Ricciardo driving his Renault at the 2020 Formula 1 Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi. (Getty)”I made a big point to get back on the podium (in 2020) and I did that. It was really good to get back up there,” Ricciardo said.”Starting this year I want to be aiming to be back on the podium. If that happens to be a win as opposed to a second or a third then of course I’ll take it, but I’ll set the bar at a podium expectation for 2021 and see what that delivers.”Australian Formula 1 fans are hoping the next trademark Ricciardo shoey is not far away. For a daily dose of the best of the breaking news and exclusive content from Wide World of Sports, subscribe to our newsletter by clicking here!

India pull out of ISSF World Cup owing to quarantine rules

Hunter Miska ถอนหายใจอย่างสิ้นหวังและจับเป้าหมายของ Jeff Carter

India is not going to participate in the ISSF (International Shooting Sports Federation) World Cup in Changwon, due to South Korea’s mandatory 14-day quarantine rule. India is also set to host a World Cup later on, from March 18 to 29, at the Dr. Karni Shooting Range, in Delhi.Shooting has been India’s forte in multi-sport events in recent times, and the country is expecting a few medals from the discipline in the upcoming 2021 Tokyo Olympics as well. With few months left for the mega event to kick-off, the shooters are in a race against time to prepare for it, while the upcoming ISSF World Cup was a major part of it. But, as per the recent reports, India will not take part in the meet in Changwon, due to South Korea’s mandatory 14-day quarantine rule, which will not allow the athletes to train during that period.”Our shooters are not going to be participating in the World Cup in Korea as there is a 14-day mandatory quarantine. That means they will not be able to train for that period,” said a top official of the (NRAI) National Rifle Association of India, as reported by PTI.The ISSF World Cup, in Changwon, which is scheduled to be held from April 16 to 27, is a combined tournament, featuring shooters from rifle, pistol, and shotgun events competing for medals. The organisers have clearly stated that they are not going to exempt the shooters from the mandatory 14-day quarantine rule. India is also set to host a World Cup, from March 18 to 29, at the Dr. Karni Shooting in Delhi.Follow us on Facebook hereStay connected with us on Twitter hereLike and share our Instagram page here .

Ashwin stars as India thrash England to level Test series

ดู: อดีตนักกีฬากำลังรอชมชุดทดสอบ PAKvSA ที่น่าตื่นเต้น

Chennai: India captain Virat Kohli said Tuesday his side showed more “grit” and “determination” to thrash England in the second Test, playing down complaints about the difficult pitch.
With local hero Ravichandran Ashwin claiming eight wickets in the match and scoring 106 in the second innings, India completed a 317-run victory inside four days in Chennai.
Left-arm spinner Axar Patel claimed a five-wicket haul on his Test debut as England were out for 164 while chasing an unlikely 482 on day four.
Some said the Chennai pitch, which crumbled from nearly the first day, was not fit for a Test.
But England made no public complaint and Kohli rejected the criticism and said his side played a “perfect game”.
“I think our application with the bat was outstanding,” said the India captain.
“The conditions were challenging for both sides but we showed more application and grit and determination to battle it out.
“We didn’t panic out there looking at the hard turn and bounce on that pitch.”
Kohli highlighted that India scored 600 runs over two innings despite the conditions, and winning the toss made no difference.
“So if you put up that kind of batting performance and you string in those important batting partnerships then we know that our bowlers are going to do the job.”
England ‘outplayed
England captain Joe Root conceded that his side were “outplayed in all three departments this week” and had to learn quickly before the third Test in Ahmedabad.
But he added: “I would say it was a challenging wicket. I do think that it was an important toss to win.”
England, he said, now have to be “honest” and learn quickly to adapt to conditions in India.
England, struggling since the opening day, kept losing wickets after resuming on 53-3 on day four.
Root departed for 33 soon after lunch, falling to Patel.
Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav joined in to finish off the innings, taking Moeen Ali after he smashed 43 off 18 balls.
The last wicket partnership of 38 between Ali and Stuart Broad, unbeaten on five, was England’s highest of the match.
England, who have been resting and rotating players, said Ali would be returning home after the Test.
Ali had coronavirus in Sri Lanka but recovered to take a total of eight wickets in the second Test against India.
Ashwin’s five wickets to help bowl out England for 134 in the first innings in response to India’s 329 set the tone for the host’s dominance.
England conceded a lead of 195 and then struggled on a pitch that offered turn from day one.
“This wicket was very different to the one we played on in the first game,” Ashwin conceded, but he added that the wickets had not fallen from the balls he expected.
“It was the mind of the batsmen that got us wickets.”
Opener Rohit Sharma hit an attacking 161 to set up India’s big innings after they won the toss and elected to bat first.
Sharma’s seventh Test century and his first against England raised the pitch of the returning Indian crowd — present in a stadium for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic.
Kohli made 62 in the second innings, putting on a key 96-run seventh-wicket partnership with Ashwin on day three.
Both sides need to win the series to take the second place in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand later this year.
The third Test — a day-night match — will begin in Ahmedabad on February 24.
Authorities have not said if fans will be allowed into the world’s biggest cricket stadium — with a 100,000-plus capacity — for the game.

Adidas reveals Predator Freak – with the new evolution of Demonskin

Transfer Tracker: Michigan QB Dylan McCaffrey เข้าสู่พอร์ทัล

adidas have revealed Predator Freak created to transform athlete’s play and to enable improved control on the ball.

Continuing the evolution of Predator, the updated design features extended Demonskin spike coverage and an enhanced fit, engineered to help support athletes to become the best version of themselves on the pitch.
Predator Freak features 360° coverage of adidas Demonskin technology. First introduced last season, the performance innovation is created by a layer of rubber spikes – calibrated by a computer algorithm – laid in a formation that aligns to key contact points with the ball. Informed by direct elite player feedback, the adidas product creation team have now extended this coverage of spikes for the 2021 design, deliberately positioning them with the aim of enabling superior control and increased ball swerve.

Manchester United’s Paul Pogba commented; “From first wear, I knew adidas had created something special with their Demonskin material. As soon as I touched the ball, I really felt a difference in the way my foot connected. I’m happy my experience with it so far has impacted the new Predator design.”
England international Toni Duggan said; “Predator has been the perfect boot for me, and from testing the updated boot in training, I can tell already that the new model will help improve my control on the ball this season.”

Continuing the ambition to help release the athlete’s natural skills, the new Predator Freak also includes a transformed silhouette; the result of the new split-cut collar design. This allows the foot a greater range of movement and improved adaptability to feet of different shapes. Also forming part of the reimagined upper, a pure-cut lace-less Primeknit collar and two-piece sock construction enables an effortless instep for eased entry into the boot and a total locked in fit around the midfoot and ankle, as well as creating an even surface area for continued added ball control. Further performance-elevating design updates can be seen in the evolved ControlFrame, a lightweight outsole complemented with traction studs for optimal traction and control, whilst stabilizing the wearer’s step to allow full power of movement.
Predator Freak has also received an expressive aesthetic update. Referencing notable heritage designs including the 1998 Predator Accelerator and the 2000 Predator Precision, the dramatic look sees the iconic three stripes wrapping from lateral to medial sides and around the underside of the boot. Luminous yellow Demonskin spikes pop against a bright all-over blue colourway, to round off the striking look.
The Predator Freak range will also include shin guards and goalkeeper gloves featuring the Demonskin technology, extending the same sensation of grip and control across all positions on the pitch.
Since 1994, adidas Predator has been synonymous with some of the greatest names in the game, firmly embedding itself in football culture. Predator Freak continues this tradition and is set to be worn by players including Paul Pogba, Toni Duggan, Marc-Andre Ter Stegan, David Alaba and Abby Dahlkemper. adidas Predator Freak (RRP €280) will be available worldwide from today via adidas.com and selected retailers.

Transfer Tracker: Michigan QB Dylan McCaffrey เข้าสู่พอร์ทัล

Australian Open 2021: Serena Williams overpowers Simona Halep to reach 40th Grand Slam semifinal- 10th seeded Serena Williams on Tuesday thrashed World No.2 Simona Halep to book her place in the Australian Open 2021 semifinals. The 23 times Grand Slam Champion beat the Romanian 6-3, 6-3 in straight sets that lasted an hour and 21 minutes. The 39-year-old will next face Naomi Osaka who had defeated her in US Open final 2018. Serena is only Grand Slam away with Margaret Court (24 Grand Slams).
Serena was in an emphatic mood in the first set and she did not give Halep any chance and as a result, the American star won the first set 6-3. Serena hit 14 winners to win the opening set.
In the second set, Halep gained a 3-1 lead, but Serena managed to come back to bring the scoreline level at 3-3. Carrying on her with her momentum, Serena made the winning charge and as a result, she ended up winning the match in straight sets.
Australian Open 2021: Aslan Karatsev stuns Grigor Dimitrov to enter semifinals
“I just realised I was making a lot of unforced errors and I was like ‘stay in there, keep going’ and that’s what I did,” said Serena after her victory, adding, “This is definitely the best match I’ve played in this tournament so far and I had to do that going up against the number two in the world, so that’s what I did and I’m excited.
“Last year my coach Patrick had a little talk with me on how I had to do better on my defence.”
She has not added to her Grand Slam tally since beating her sister Venus in the Australian Open final in 2017.
Earlier in the day, Japanese tennis player Naomi Osaka advanced to the semi-finals of the ongoing Australian Open after overpowering Taiwan’s Su-Wei Hsieh on Tuesday.
The three-time Grand Slam champion Osaka defeated Hsieh in two consecutive sets and sealed a comfortable victory in 66 minutes at Rod Laver Arena. The world number three smashed seven aces in her dominating victory to extend the winning streak to 19 matches.

Serie A Team of the Week: Lukaku lays waste to Lazio

Hunter Miska ถอนหายใจอย่างสิ้นหวังและจับเป้าหมายของ Jeff Carter

Romelu Lukaku leads the Serie A Team of the Week following his excellent performance for Inter at home to Lazio.Antonio Conte’s men secured a vital 3-1 home victory which allowed them to leapfrog Milan into top spot in the table and into pole position to claim the Scudetto.Lukaku (8.4) played a part in all three goals, initially scoring from the penalty spot before earning his second with a flashed right-footed snapshot past the goalkeeper from the edge of the box which was only given after VAR Intervened. His best moment of the match was arguably his assist, though, as he showed devastating pace, power, and determination to barge down the right wing, leaving Marco Parolo for dead before setting up Lautaro Martinez for a tap in.Lorenzo Insigne (7.4) and Domenico Berardi (7.9) join the big Belgian in the front three after scoring for Napoli and Sassuolo respectively. The Napoli man converted from the penalty spot as the Partenopei defeated Juventus 1-0.Another Sassuolo player features in our XI in Manuel Locatelli (7.6), who completed 88/96 attempted passes and had more touches of the ball than any other player in this round of fixtures with 125.Jordan Veretout (7.8) scored two goals from midfield as Roma beat Udinese 3-0 with relative comfort.Making up the midfield three is Fiorentina’s Erick Pulgar (7.7), who won an impressive 11/15 duels, albeit in defeat against Sampdoria. One of the most surprising results of the weekend saw Spezia defeat league leaders Milan 2-0. Simone Bastoni (7.7) scored one of the goals and slots in at left-back.Gianluca Mancini (8.1) and veteran defender Kamil Glik (8.0) feature in the centre of our defence.Berat Djimsiti (7.8) had 108 touches of the ball and completed 83/94 attempted passes for Atalanta.Napoli understandably had to weather a storm of sorts against Juve, but had Alex Meret (8.2) in goal to rely on as he made six saves to earn his clean sheet bonus.Serie A TEAM OF THE WEEK

“Ridiculous Numbers”: Daniil Medvedev Opens Up on Emulating the Big Three’s Grand Slam Feats

Transfer Tracker: Michigan QB Dylan McCaffrey เข้าสู่พอร์ทัล

Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev has expressed his awe over the Grand Slam accomplishments of the ‘Big Three’ – combined moniker for Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. Speaking to reporters after progressing to the Australian Open quarters with a comfortable victory over Mackenzie McDonald of the United States on Monday, the Russian said that his mind boggles at the thought of how far he has to go to even come close to what the Big Three have achieved in Majors. Medvedev says he doesn’t see himself matching the Big Three’s Grand Slam feats The World Number 4 said that although it is fair to assume that he is one of the top players in the contemporary men’s circuit, he is yet to sink his teeth into Grand Slam glory and has a long way to go before he can even dream of rivaling the Big Three. Medvedev, who won back-to-back titles at the elite Rolex Paris Masters and the ATP Finals last year, said he grew up watching Pete Sampras set his own mark with 14 Grand Slam and felt the record will stand forever like the ones being set by soccer superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Tennis – ATP Cup – Melbourne Park, Melbourne, Australia, February 6, 2021 Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in action during his semi final match against Germany’s Alexander Zverev REUTERS/Kelly DefinaHowever, that was before Federer, Nadal and Djokovic unleashed themselves into the world of tennis and went about setting their own individual benchmarks. “Then the three guys came, they didn’t just beat the record (Sampras’ career haul in Grand Slams), they destroyed it,” Medvedev said. Putting some context into the argument of him emulating the Big Three’s incredible Grand Slam numbers, the Russian said he would have to win all the Majors over the next five years to cross the milestones set by Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic. Daniil Medvedev moved into the quarters of Australian Open on Monday Also, bringing his poor run at the French Open to the context, a smiling Medvedev said, “Roland-Garros, I’m not so good so far.” While not saying as much, the Russian conceded that reaching where the ‘Big Three’ have gone might prove to be a bridge too far for him. “Five years in a row I need to win every Slam against amazing opponents, five-set matches, not be injured. That’s ridiculous numbers,” said Medvedev, who took Russia to its maiden ATP Cup title this year. He settled the argument with a glowing tribute to the Big Three, calling them “the greatest players in the history of tennis.” READ MORE- Unorthodox but Effective: The Mystery Behind Daniil Medvedev’s Style of Play

Is Tokyo really ready for the Games?

Hunter Miska ถอนหายใจอย่างสิ้นหวังและจับเป้าหมายของ Jeff Carter

More than 11,000 athletes, along with coaches and support staff are likely to set their foot in Tokyo for the most-awaited Olympics in the modern era. With the pandemic situation still not eradicated and vaccines are yet to be rolled out globally, can Tokyo really pull off the coup?International travel has been a hassle in the last twelve months, thanks to the Covid-19 virus. In spite of the lingering hazards, the world of sports has taken giant steps to prevail normalcy. Bio-bubbles have been a constant, with fans allowed with a limit in certain areas, while regular testing has been done before tournaments is the primary way to keep the athletes safe. But, what will happen if an athlete is not allowed to take part in the meet due to prior infection of the Covid-19 virus, even though the tests have turned out negative, or if they are not vaccinated prior to an event. That’s exactly what happened to Indian shuttler Sai Praneeth during the Thailand Open, where he was sent back to India citing his reports were ‘unclear,’ even though it was later found that he had already developed antibodies. It’s horrifying to imagine if the same case persists in an event like the 2021 Tokyo Olympics – with more than 11,000 athletes in the village. How many would be sent back? The Yonex Thailand Open marked the return of top-flight badminton this season, with the ranked shuttlers across the globe setting foot on the same land after almost a year. The Indian contingent, on arriving, went through the mandatory tests, during which Saina Nehwal and HS Prannoy were detected positive for Covid-19 and sent to quarantine for the same. Miraculously, Prannoy’s sample later returned a negative result. In fact, both of them tested positive on the PCR test but their antibody IgG was positive – which meant that they were previously affected by the virus but are not carrying it right now. While they were allowed to feature in the Toyota Thailand Open, one of their compatriots – Sai Praneeth was denied the same, even though he encountered a similar situation. Now, that was hard to digest for the then world no. 13.Having already played the first tournament and gearing up for the second in Thailand within a couple of weeks, Praneeth was stunned when the organisers summoned him and said that the ‘report was unclear.’ Any layman would clarify regarding the actual inference, so did the Indian, who was informed that he tested negative for antibodies, implying he still carried the virus within himself. Organisers, not taking any further risk, admitted Praneeth to a quarantine hotel and informed he would be hospitalized if any symptoms occur. Not developing any indications, fresh tests were conducted where it showed that the shuttler had antibodies. Enquiring regarding the previous reports, he was astonished to find that he has antibodies detected in those also. As per the quarantine norms, he stayed at the hotel for a few days and asked to go back home. Praneeth missed a major tournament due to false reports. How can the organisers afford to make such errors, or is it too daunting a task to keep track of multiple reports and results within a small span. Organising an event like the Olympics demands systematic monitoring of the athletes inside the village. Is Tokyo really preparing to shoulder the responsibility? The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is clear with their stance of vaccinating Tokyo-bound athletes before the event kicks-off, which is also backed by Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju. As per reports, Indian shuttlers (Badminton being a popular sport) are set to receive the vaccine from the next month itself, even though a date has not been announced yet. On the other hand, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suge suggested that the vaccine is a ‘clincher’ and won’t be a requirement. According to him, they ‘will prepare for a safe and secure Olympics without making vaccination a precondition.’ So, on what basis are the countries going to allow their athletes to compete in a meet which involves athletes from all over the world? As alarming as it sounds, we are actually set to compromise the lives of thousands – athletes, coaches, support staff, if proper parameters are not maintained before the games get underway. Apparently, the International Olympic Association (IOA) is working closely with the World Health Organisation (WHO) to get all the people associated with the Tokyo Olympics vaccinated in order to save the biggest sports spectacle in the world. But, with the host country not on the same page, there is every possibility that the difference in opinion might cause disruption in the build-up to the Games.Whatever the case, for a magnitude of this level, prerequisite conditions must be chalked out at least months prior to the opening ceremony. It’s quite obvious that the athletes would reside in a bubble, but it must be ensured not a single person is carrying the virus, or else, the consequences have to be suffered. It would be unfortunate if the Tokyo Olympics gets cancelled altogether, but we cannot stage the event even if there’s even the remotest chance of the virus spreading further, a virus which has claimed the lives of millions throughout the world.Follow us on Facebook hereStay connected with us on Twitter hereLike and share our Instagram page here .
